Will AI take people’s jobs? What professions will remain after the next industrial revolution? Are we doomed to passive income? Such questions are almost an everyday occurrence for many AI experts, because this technology is seen as the greatest threat to many jobs.

What is very important, we are not talking only about creative industries or professions such as journalists or copywriters. Some industry gurus openly talk about autonomous factories, hordes of robotic assistants who will replace us in a moment, condemning us to unemployment. After all, such a robot is less problematic than a human because it does not need holidays or health benefits.

Is it really that bad? Well, not necessarily, but the latest report by the World Economic Forum leaves no doubts – artificial intelligence will change the image of the labor market. This is not a dream of the distant future, but a scenario that may come true this decade.

We have 5 years to adapt to working with AI

The report presented by the World Economic Forum confirms that we are undergoing a significant process in the entire labor market. The research shows that as many as 77% of companies that took part in the surveys declare that they intend to train employees in the use of AI in operational work. This shows very clearly that artificial intelligence is no longer just a whim or a passing fad, but a real and full-fledged tool.

The second part of the research, however, is less optimistic, because 41% of the surveyed companies assume job cuts due to the optimization of tasks by AI. Interestingly, employers notice that many employees do not have the skills and abilities needed to be competitive with artificial intelligence.

Additionally On average, workers can expect exactly 39% of their skills to be transformed or obsolete between 2025 and 2030. This will force many people to need additional training or completely change their profession. It sounds scary, but the WEF report shows that this rate has slowed down compared to 2023 (47%) and 2020 (a record 57%).

We are not talking here about a spectrum of as many as 22 industries from the entire economy. So here we have an example of how big an impact AI can have on the development of the entire economy, regardless of what branch we are talking about. After all, artificial intelligence includes not only chatbots like Claude or ChatGPT, but also entire autonomous centers that operate on fully automated processes.

So it turns out that many of us have 5 years to adapt, train and develop to adapt to the new reality. So what will be “on top” when AI becomes a permanent part of our work?

Where will AI not replace humans?

The report shows that working with large data sets and supporting AI are the most attractive and fastest-growing skills. Network and cybersecurity specialists will continue to be in high demand. There were also less specific abilities.

Of course, it’s about creativity, stress resistance, flexibility, curiosity and the desire to learn and constantly develop. All this is to become more important in the years 2025-20230 and with such features, we should become a more attractive party for employers.

Will this really be the case? It’s hard to say for now, after all, we are at the beginning of this period. It is true that certain tendencies can already be noticed, but they are still far from trends, and even more so from real directions of development. Very far away.
