ChatGPT got lazy! The chatbot refused to perform a simple task
When we look at all kinds of chatbots and LLMs, we almost instinctively think that these are tools that can do certain work for us. Most often, it’s about work that we don’t want to do or don’t have time for.
This is how all kinds of tools and models are often sold to us. There is nothing strange about this, after all, it is a kind of measure of the progress we have achieved.
What if such a chatbot decides to become a bit lazy? The case of ChatGPT and a certain director shows that artificial intelligence can also have its moods. What exactly are we talking about?
ChatGPT started filming when he failed to deliver the script on time
One of the main perpetrators of the confusion is director Nenad Cicin-Sain. He made his mark on filmography with such productions as: The Time Being (2012) Whether Kiss The Future (2023), and is currently working on a film about an AI-controlled politician. The idea itself may be interesting, but Cicin-Sain decided to use ChatGPT to create the scenario.
The plan was interesting and certainly ambitious, but ultimately it turned out to be impossible to implement. It turned out that the OpenAI chatbot simply did not want to carry out the commands given to it.
The first “warning light” appeared when ChatGPT asked the director for additional time (four weeks) to generate an appropriate script. Interestingly, after this deadline passed, the tool still did not provide any text and kept changing the deadlines.
As if that wasn’t enough, the chatbot kept coming up with reasons why it didn’t deliver the text on time. Finally, ChatGPT stated that the term that had been assumed “was not clear.” Ultimately, the director had to write the script entirely on his own, and ChatGPT’s help was limited to a minimum.
Will AI replace us for some time?
The example of Cicin-Sain shows that screenwriters and directors do not have to worry for some time that AI will take their jobs. This is also quite an interesting example that shows that this “ChatGPT laziness” is more than just a one-time accident.
The director also claims that artificial intelligence at this stage of development still lacks some responsibility for its actions and obligations. No matter how you look at it, this is a quite important feature, especially when we are talking about any work, regardless of the industry.
So for now, we can be calm and many industries do not have to worry about being replaced by robots. Do you feel calmer?
